Become A Model, Break Into Modeling

So you want to become a model. The industry can be painted very glamorous and it is not so all the time. Many times it is tough to find work. It’s not as all upscale as it seems because some of the jobs don’t pay or hardly anything at all. The modeling business has a lot of rivalry. Are you willing to keep up with the 24/7 type of lifestyle? You have to stay in the best of shape all the time. You don’t have the freedom to eat whatever you’d like, if you pack on a few pounds that can mean for you not getting certain kinds of work. Many individuals crave to get into this area of work, so unless you’re willing to commit to the time and work that it takes to make it, you will not succeed in this business.
Professional model posing, pictures are not necessary, you just need a close up of your face and a nice body shot. Go to the modeling agencies with the photographs you have. A lot of models decide to get portfolios done. This can be a good move to make. These dimensions of the photographs are about 8 x 10 to 9 x 12. 10 to 12 good pictures of yourself done in different ways are all you need to get started. You want to have color and black and white. The following shots should be put into your book, a variety of headshots, full body pictures, bathing suits, lingerie, commercial and fashion pictures.
It’s a good idea to get photographs from more than one photographer. This will show versatility. You can even get away with doing modeling shoots for prints. Now that we have digital cameras, you can get a whole bunch of shots and have them put them on a CD. Then you go to a professional print shop and get them printed up to fit in your book. Make sure you ask to see the photographer’s portfolio. Avoid doing nude shots with any photographer. Make sure you take a friend with you or let someone know where you are going before you take any pictures.
Pick out your best pictures and have a comp card made up. When you visit the agencies or others that have work for you this is the card that you will leave them. Now get your comp card printed up. You want to use good printing to show off all of your pictures in the best possible way. Never put an agencies contact information on your card printed up that way. You want to hit as many agencies as you can to find work.
Get ready to visit some agencies. You can find them by looking in the phone book or calling a union and getting a list of which agencies are on the up and up. Start by calling them and making an appointment. Many of them you can send your digital photographs via email. Don’t take an agency serious if they ask you for money. Agencies collect a commission for finding you work. When you become a model, I hope you’ll keep these tips in mind.
