Learning how to act is the first thing you must do. That statement seems so obvious but you would be surprised how many actors think that they will simply “be discovered”. You are not simply going to be discovered, you are going to have to build up your acting skills and put in the hard work. You should be taking acting courses and working with acting coaches if you are serious about being an actor. You should also be getting experience acting from theater monologues to commercials, always be applying to auditions and casting calls. Even if you don’t get the part you will get precious experience which is worth a lot to your career.

Be sure to take a variety of classes so you have many different acting styles to showcase. The more skills and acting smarts that you have, the more opputurnities will be shown to you.

My next piece of advice is that being an actor isn’t a short term thing so you should be in it for the long run. You should be doing whatever it takes to reach your goal as an entertainer.  Improving your skills as an actor everyday should be your goal as you try to perfect your trade.
