Singing with age

Have you always wished you could sing better but now believe that you’re too old to learn to sing?  You can never be too old to sing! Singing is fun at any age, young or old.

Children at the age of 8 or 9 years (and even younger) can be taught the basics of good singing. Sure, singing training must be adjusted later on to avoid damaging their voices during the changes of puberty. Any qualified singing coach will be able to give advice in this regard.

But even if you didn’t start singing at a young age, don’t let that discourage you from starting now. It’s really never too late and some people have even claim that their voice has improved with age. But even if this is not the case for you, don’t be put off. There is no denying that there are many physical changes in our body as we age. It’s clear that our muscles will lose both flexibility and strength. However, don’t be like so many others and make “age” an excuse for not pursuing your dreams.

Don’t forget that it’s not just older people, but even kids can have vocal or physical complaints.
My point is this: granted there will be things that you will never be able to do as well as you might have when you were young, but you are never to old to experience new things and to have fun. It is never too late to do activities that inspire us and make us energetic and vibrant. It’s never too late to learn develop and learn new skills. The Per Bristow Voice Method is a liberating learn to sing approach that has no age or skill prerequisite.

Although many professional and semi-professionals use the Bristow Voice Method, there are just as many beginners who use the program. Since it is all about developing awareness and taking you from where you are to where you want to go, your level or age is really irrelevant. At the end of the day, old or young really is just a state of mind. Singing is one of those activities that has no age limit, unless we are judging the way we sound towards some limiting ideal. Stop holding yourself back and start singing for the joy of it today!
